Description
See-through hand stretch film, four rolls to a carton. Each roll is 500mm wide with 300m of 25 micron cast film on a 50mm (2 inch) core. It’s used to wrap pallets by hand, holding the boxes together as one load. You’ll also see it called hand pallet wrap, stretch pallet wrap, stretch wrap or, not quite correctly, shrink wrap. True shrink wrap needs heat; this doesn’t.
Why cast film. Cast film unwinds without a screech and grips itself, so the tail presses down onto the wrap. At 25 micron, with a resin high in metallocene, it’s tough for its thickness. Fit corner boards on truly sharp-edged loads such as steel.
Why clear. You can see what’s on the pallet without cutting the wrap, so whoever unloads it can check it against the docket. If the load shouldn’t be on show, the black version is identical film, just opaque.
How to wrap a pallet. Tuck the end into the pallet or tie it to a corner. Go round the base three or four times, catching the pallet’s top boards to lock the load on. Walk forwards around the pallet, never backwards, raising the roll so each pass overlaps the last by about half, with firm, even tension. Finish with two or three turns just above the top layer so the film folds over its edge, then press the tail down.
On moving day. Removalists use it to keep drawers shut, wrapping over a blanket on polished pieces, and to bundle table legs together.
Seal cartons with clear or brown packing tape before they go on the pallet.
